Boxing Day in Costa Teguise, Lanzerote
So it's now nearly 5 pm on a Thursday afternoon in December and as I type I’m actually sitting on the balcony of hotel Beatriz in Lanzerote. Outside the weather is warm, hence my tee shirt, even on boxing day!
This is the third year in a row that we have decided to go away for Christmas. Yesterday was spent sipping gin and tonics by the pool with a couple we met from Wales, exchanging stories of family life and illnesses, as you do.
If you’ve never been to Lanzerote it looks pretty much like the surface of the moon full of volcanic rocks and boulders. Tomorrow we’re planning to go up a live volcano, and we’re just hoping it doesn’t suddenly decide to erupt!
Still other have made it there and back so that gives us some confidence at least!
How’s your holiday going? My wife is so organised that she always seems to have got next year’s presents sorted before the end of January…this certainly is a bonus as we didn’t need to rush out in a present-buying frenzy before we left home.
My plans to record myself live every day have unfortunately not worked out as somehow even on holiday there seems to be such a lot to do.
But we’re really lucky to be able to afford to go away, and the main reason that we can goes back to a summer holiday spent on the beach reading “Rich Dad Poor Dad” and suddenly I realised that I had the power within me to control my finances.
Here’s one of my favourite quotes from the book:
“If you’re the kind of person who has no guts, you just give up every time life pushes you. If you’re that kind of person, you’ll live all your life playing it safe, doing the right things, saving yourself for something that never happens. Then, you die a boring old man.”
Don’t get me wrong, it has been a far from easy walk….but at least I know I won’t die a boring old man (if that volcano erupts tomorrow I’ll maybe shave a few years off my life expectancy!).
Anyway if you’d like to download the book from Amazon grab your copy here:
But, please, only buy this book if you are serious about turning your finances around and are going to take action. If you want to die a boring old man (or woman) PLEASE don’t bother reading it.
